As Product Owner/Business Analyst on the Matrix Solutions team, you will work to understand and represent broadcast television and digital workflows, leveraging industry developments including the TIP initiative, digital sales standards and emerging sales business models. A successful candidate will have the ability to work with Product and Development Teams to analyze and solve customer business problems. As a key stakeholder, the Product Owner will provide details for the Agile Product Development team and convey that vision to the scrum team(s) with a regularly prioritized backlog.


Key Responsibilities

The scope of work will include but is not limited to:

  • Product ownership role throughout the development and delivery lifecycle, requirements management and backlog prioritization
  • Management of, and contribution to, requirements and user story definition
  • Tracking, management, and communication on product development progress
  • Leads grooming sessions and the presentation of (and collaboration around) requirements with engineering staff, ahead of development and as changes emerge through the software development lifecycle, including mockups and workflow diagrams
  • Works with Quality Assurance to determine acceptance criteria for development and testing of epics and stories, and performs user acceptance testing
  • Works with Support for advanced issue recreation and for communicating fix requirements to development
  • Demonstrations and walkthroughs on emerging and completed software to internal and external audiences
  • Collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Product leadership teams on outward communications about the product and roadmap
  • Client visits requiring occasional travel, up to 15-20%
  • Client surveys (current systems/process analysis)
  • Evaluate and recommend requirements to address strategic industry and software needs
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the competition, differentiators and business strategy
  • Perform the role of Product Evangelist internally and externally


Essential Requirements

  • Three or more years previous experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, Developer, or related focus
  • Knowledge and experience using structured methodologies for requirements and functional analysis and iterative user story definition in an agile environment
  • Some knowledge of the broadcast/cable industry from the sales, traffic, scheduling and/or playout operations perspective, and/or user/superuser experience on media industry software
  • Knowledge of documenting APIs and API integrations a plus
  • Good documentation and presentation skills
  • Understanding of underlying software technologies and the impact they have on systems design
  • Awareness of procedures and standards for conceptual product definition, database design, the creation of analysis specifications and program artifacts, development of test plans
  • Appreciation of good UI/UX design and its impact on product success
  • Ability to present product and roadmap information to internal and external clients
  • Ability to work in an organized manner and use common sense and problem-solving abilities
  • High degree of analytical expertise in software design and development
  • Self-motivation and initiative
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure on multiple projects
  • Ability to adapt to a new working environment and technologies
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office software products


Desirable Experience

  • Media industry and/or digital advertising sales experience is a plus
  • Skilled in use of Adobe Xd, Balsamiq, Visio or other similar drawing tools
  • Knowledge of Pivotal Tracker, Slack, UserVoice or similar development management tools
  • HTML/CSS/JavaScript/SQL skills a plus, but strong software development understanding is a must
